A 70-year-old hiker named Craig Berg was rescued after being missing for nearly a week in the forests of a remote island in Lake Superior. Officials announced on Sunday that this hiker disappeared on September 5 and was found on Saturday in Isle Royale National Park, "injured and suffering from hypothermia."

Transport and Medical Care
A U.S. Navy MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter based in Traverse City evacuated the man from the island and transported him to Marquette Regional Airport. After that, the emergency medical services (EMS) team took him to a local hospital. Wendy Janson, senior officer of the U.S. Navy fleet at the Great Lakes Command Center, said, "This rescue is a testament to the collaboration and what can happen when responders and community members work together. We are very grateful to have been able to safely evacuate Mr. Berg from the island and get him the medical care he needed."
