Russia and Ukraine launched new attacks on each other's energy facilities last night despite Donald Trump's claim of a ceasefire. According to Ukrainian officials, Russia fired 200 drones towards Ukraine targeting energy facilities and ports.
Casualties in Kyiv
In the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, one person was killed and seven others were injured as a result of attacks on two gas stations, warehouses, and other locations. In southern and western Ukraine, Russian attacks damaged homes and port and transportation infrastructure. Meanwhile, Kyiv's military forces announced that they had attacked the Sizzran oil refinery in the Samara region of Russia.

Escalation of Attacks from Both Sides
Ukrainian forces also reported attacks on a drone production facility in Taganrog and a drone preparation and launch site in the Orel region. This situation illustrates the daily reality of Russia's attacks on Ukraine, which has now entered its fifth year. The Kremlin conducts drone and missile attacks on Kyiv and other cities almost nightly.
On Monday, Donald Trump announced that both sides had reached an agreement to stop the deadly air exchanges. He deemed this exchange the main cause of the global fuel shortage, which has driven diesel prices in the United States to their highest levels. Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, seems to doubt Trump's claim of reaching an agreement, stating that he would only commit to stopping energy attacks if Russia does the same.
Reactions and Tensions in NATO
The Kremlin reacted positively to this idea on Tuesday, describing it as a proposal under discussion with Washington. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, called this proposal a "very good idea" and added that "we always support peaceful solutions." Meanwhile, on the battlefield in Ukraine, a senior Ukrainian commander reported the start of a new attack in Donetsk.
This war also continuously threatens to extend beyond Ukraine's borders. Last night, NATO fighters shot down an unmanned drone in Lithuanian airspace. The origin of this drone is still under investigation.
