Lance Schreiber, who has a background in the Oklahoma state police, was serving as a senior advisor to Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security. Schreiber had been introduced as Mayorkas's primary choice for the position of ICE director following the departure of Todd Lyons in April. Mayorkas, a former senator from Oklahoma, had become acquainted with Schreiber during his tenure.

ICE's Reaction and Consequences of This Decision
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has not yet responded to this action, but a spokesperson stated that a statement from the agency will be released soon. Currently, David Venturella, the acting director of ICE, is likely to continue in his role leading the agency. Schreiber has a long history of working in local law enforcement in Oklahoma but does not have experience working with ICE.
The Trump administration introduced Schreiber through a post on its social media platform, Truth Social, last June.
