Michael Krull, a spokesperson for the Michigan Military and Veterans Affairs Office, confirmed that the pilot is in stable condition and has been transported to a local hospital. Nicole Blanchard, the Blair Township Supervisor, stated that the incident occurred in a residential area, and she heard the crash from her office. One witness, Nicole Kundra, said her children first spotted the military jet. She explained, "I heard a loud explosion and then saw a colorful parachute coming down from the sky."
Edward Wilson, another witness, said he saw the plane crash and then observed an explosion and black smoke. He added, "The fighter jet went down nose-first and disappeared." Videos shared on social media show a column of black smoke rising near the crash site.
Consequences of the Incident
A hazardous chemical leak related to the incident prompted the evacuation of all commercial and residential properties within a one-mile radius. The Michigan State Police announced that the Grand Traverse County Emergency Management Office issued the evacuation order, and a shelter has been set up at a nearby church.
